TROY, N.Y. – Local elementary students at Public School 18 in Troy were honored this morning with the Principal’s Character Award.
One student from each class, for a total of 16, is selected by teachers for the medal.
The award is based on integrity, character and the willingness to work hard.
In a changing world, Principal Cynthia Kilgallon says in addition to being good students, the children also need to learn to be good people.
“We need to ensure that students have citizenship values and are able to separate fact from fiction in a very complex world where information overload is a big part of their lives,” she said.
As part of the ceremony, the students were given a moment to thank their parents or caregivers in attendance.
