ALBANY, N.Y. – UAlbany entered Wednesday night’s game with a perfect 9-0 record in conference play and was able to keep a clean record against University of New Hampshire.
The Danes faced a tough match up against UNH – a team they needed a last second shot from Sam Rowley to beat last month. UAlbany wore special shirts with Sue Hooley’s initials on the front, and guard Peter Hooley’s number on the back.
The game was tied at 58 points with only a minute left. Evan Singletary made a three-point shot to give UAlbany the lead.
UAlbany wins 62-63.
“We’re not getting any style points from this one, but it beats the alternative which is losing, so we’ll take it so we’ll move forward,” head coach Will Brown said. “We’ll learn from it, and we’ve got to get better.”
“I think our team played hard,” forward Sam Rowley said. “That was the best thing about this game, so we get confidence from each win; each slightly different win, and we know that whatever the team throw at us, we’ll be able to come out with a win.”
