Two Palatine Bridge men arrested in arson investiation

PALATINE BRIDGE, N.Y. – Two Palatine Bridge men have been arrested and charged in connection to an alleged arson.

 

Montgomery County Sheriff Deputies responded to two acts of arson on Thursday. Around 6 p.m. there was a report of arson to a residential garage and a pick-up truck on East Grand Street. A report of a structure fire on Failing Hill Road was reported around 8:30 p.m.

 

Four people occupied the residence at the time, but everyone made it out safely.

 

Police identified and arrested Scott Joseph Cole and Michael Allan Tibbitts as a result of an investigation.

 

Cole was charged with one count of Arson in the Second Degree, one count of Arson in the Third Degree and Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree. The 37-year-old was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility without bail.

 

Tibbits was charged with one count of Conspiracy in the Fourth Degree. The 45-year-old was issued an appearance ticket to the Palatine Town Court on February 5.
