Woman accused of stealing victim’s purse out of car

ROTTERDAM, N.Y. – Police have arrested a woman for allegedly stealing another woman’s purse.

On Thursday around 9:30 a.m., the Rotterdam Police received a call at the Price Chopper on Altamont Avenue for a female who had stolen a purse from an unlocked vehicle.

A witness observed Linda Vacca, 67, of Schenectady, allegedly enter an unlocked vehicle, take the victim’s purse and place it in her own vehicle. Vacca then proceeded into Price Chopper to shop.

Vacca was apprehended by responding patrols as she exited Price Chopper.

Vacca is charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree, and criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth, both felonies. Vacca was arraigned in Rotterdam Town Court.
