AMSTERDAM, N.Y. – The Montgomery County Sheriffs Office arrested three people after they were allegedly caught possessing a number of drugs.
Police say they received information of an individual that was traveling on the New York State Thruway from New York City to Amsterdam transporting narcotics. At approximately 5 p.m. on Wednesday, the vehicle exited the Thruway at Exit 27. A traffic stop was initiated on State Highway 30 and the individuals in the vehicle were removed and a subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered illegal narcotics consisting of 12.6 grams of cocaine, 11.3 grams of heroin, 10.5 grams of crack and 3.7 grams of Molly, say police.
The individual transporting the narcotics was identified at Dixon Feliciano of Amsterdam. Further investigation revealed that he illegally possessed firearms at a residence in the City of Amsterdam.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, in cooperation with the Amsterdam Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives executed a search warrant at a Cady Street residence early Thursday morning. One assault rifle was recovered at that time.
Feliciano, Jonathan Rivas and Toni Cornell, were all arrested. Rivas and Cornell were issued appearance tickets and Feliciano was arraigned in Amsterdam City Court and remanded to the custody of the Montgomery County Correctional Facility, with no bail being set.
