Emergency services community holds fundraiser for fellow first responder

WATERVLIET, N.Y. – The emergency services community gathered Sunday for a breakfast fundraiser for a fellow first responder.

In December, Capital Region firefighter and paramedic David Plouff lost his home in a massive fire.

A pancake breakfast fundraiser was organized by the Schyler Heights Fire Company to help get Plouff back on his feet.

“It’s been overwhelming to realize so many people would reach out to help me,” said Plouff.

“One of our chiefs got a hold of Dave, called him up and told him [about the fire], we were all sad, but did the best we could for him,” said J. Gerace of the Schuyler Heights Fire Department.

All the money raised at the benefit breakfast will go to Plouff as he tries to get back to normal.

Poluff is hoping to rebuild his home on the same property from the ground up.
