BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Siena Saints will play Canisius College on Friday.
The Siena men’s basketball team has held a lead in the second half of all six of their MAAC games so far this season. Those leads, however, haven’t equated to six wins. The Saints are just 3-3 in conference play.
A major issue for the Saints has been their defense, especially against the three. Saints opponents are shooting 47 percent from the field and 38 percent from three. That’s the highest percentage allowed since the 1989-1990 season.
“I think we’ve got to do some things defensively,” head coach Jimmy Patsos said. “The most important taking it personally when a guy makes a three on you. You made one. Don’t let him make another one. Really close out on him.”
“It’s on us to do that,” sophomore guard Marquis Wright. “Coach can’t keep yelling at us; just go get us to play hard and with energy, but then again, I think we can do it.”
