COLONIE, N.Y. – A Guilderland man has been arrested on child pornography charges.
Colonie Police say an Investigator acting in an undercover capacity and investigating the transmission of child pornography, received child pornography from the same IP address on two dates in November. The total number of images sent from this IP address is 112 during these dates.
The Investigator is also a member of the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force and with their help and the Guilderland Police Department’s help, 27 year old Timothy Marsh was identified as the person allegedly transmitting the child pornography.
On Friday, a search warrant was executed at Marsh’s residence and he was interviewed and ultimately arrested for one count of promoting a sexual performance of a child, a felony.
As a result of the search warrant, computers and computer storage devices were seized and are in the process of being forensically examined for additional child pornography images and videos. Police say that there is reason to believe that they may contain thousands of images of child pornography and additional charges may be possible in the future.
There is no indication that Marsh had contact with any underage victims, but due to the nature of these charges, The Colonie Police Department is asking that anyone who suspects that they were victimized by Marsh to contact their local police department or the Colonie Police Department at 783-2744.
