CANAJOHARIE, N.Y. – Police have arrested a man who allegedly took photos of a senior citizen in the bathroom.
Police said Voght was living with his girlfriend and her 92-year-old mother. Police said the woman is blind and deaf and had no knowledge that she was subjected to the picture taking.
“There are photos of her without all her clothes on” Sgt. Jason Nare with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department said. “Just inappropriate photos that if she knew she would be embarrassed.”
Voght was let go as a caregiver and boyfriend after a fight with his girlfriend. But police said Voght took up residence in the 92-year-old woman’s vacant home in Fort Plain.
The woman’s granddaughter discovered Voght when she went to check on the pipes.
“He was asked to leave,” Nare said. “He refused, and she called police.”
Voght was arrested and charged with Burglary and Petit Larceny.
But his arrest for Unlawful Surveillance came after the woman’s granddaughter found an unfamiliar digital camera left inside her grandmother’s home.
Voght told police he was taking the photos to prove that he was caring for the woman, but police said he went too far when he followed her into the bathroom.
Voght is well known to police in Montgomery County. He has been arrested at least 12 times and has faced several orders of protection against him.
The woman’s daughter said she settled on Voght to care for her mother because she had exhausted other alternatives. Voght was arraigned in Town of Canajoharie Court.
