New officers sworn in by Schenectady mayor

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – A new police recruit and a new officer have been sworn in by Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy.

The swearing in ceremony was Monday morning for 32-year-old John Bonano, who will enter the Zone 5 Law Enforcement Training Academy for six months followed by 12 weeks of department field training.

The new police officer, 23-year-old John Larrabee has already been trained and has been hired.

During the ceremony, Mayor McCarthy spoke on the importance of public safety officers in the community.

Both new members are from the area and are living in Schenectady.
