FONDA, N.Y. – New York State Police arrested a Fulton County sex offender and his girlfriend for Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
James Roe was arrested after state police received a tip that the 55-year-old was living in St. Johnsville even though he was registered as living in Fulton County. Roe is a registered Level 3 sex offender.
An investigation revealed Roe was living with 44-year-old Peggy Vrooman and her two minor children. Police said Vrooman was aware of Roe’s sex offender status and continued to let him live with her and her children.
Vrooman was arrested and charged with two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. She was processed and released and scheduled to appear in St. Johnsville Town Court on January 14.
Roe was arrested and charged with two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and one count of Failure to Report a Change of Address as a Sex Offender. He was arraigned in the Town of St. Johnsville Court and sent to the Montgomery County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail. A return date was not set.
Vrooman’s two children are being monitored by other family members as well as Montgomery County Child Protective Services.
