SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Schenectady residents of many different faiths came together in prayer Friday night to help fight violence in the streets.
The Bridge Christian Church in Schenectady held the prayer group in light of recent murders and drive-by shootings in the city.
Area pastors are hoping that if they all come together, they have a better chance of turning the tide of violence in the Electric City.
“I really felt strongly about gathering all of the churches together and just praying against the powers of darkness that are really just coming against our young people, families, children, adults,” Pastor James Bookhout said. “Our whole community is disturbed by this thing.”
Area rappers also took part in the worship along with the executive director of the Schenectady County Human Rights Commission.
