ALBANY, N.Y. – A former home health aide has been sentenced to prison.
District Attorney P. David Soares says Stephone Bennett, 36, was sentenced to up to 1 1/3 to 4 years in State Prison on Tuesday morning.
On November 6, Bennett pleaded guilty to one Count of Attempted Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree, a Felony. The guilty plea satisfied charges stemming from incidents in July 2014 where Bennett, while acting as a home health aide for the victim, stole checks from the victim’s purse. Bennett then forged the checks and then cashed them at a local bank, which was captured on surveillance video.
Bennett was also ordered to pay full restitution to the victim in the amount of $2,900.
