NEWS10’s Liana Bonavita

Liana arrived in Albany in February 2012.  Starting from day one, she has immersed herself in the Capital Region sports scene and appreciates how much variety the area offers by way of athletics.

From high school to the professional level, from football to hockey to auto and horse racing and everything in between, Liana has been privileged to cover championships at every turn.  Most recently, she covered the World Series in Kansas City and New York City.  She also reported from Belmont Park when American Pharoah won a Triple Crown, and then from Saratoga when he suffered his first loss of the year in the Travers Stakes.  She covered Union hockey’s NCAA title, traveled with the UAlbany men’s and women’s basketball teams for various NCAA tournaments and always enjoys to bring you the moment when local high school teams hoist their state trophies.

What she relishes most of all, though, is finding and telling sports stories that transcend the playing surface and speak directly to our hearts.  If you know any such story, please contact Liana at lbonavita@news10.com, on Facebook or on Twitter @LianaBonavita.  She would be honored to help get your story out.

The community has embraced Liana in her changing rolls.  She started at FOX23 as a Sports Multimedia Journalist.  Before that, Liana was a Sports Director at WIVT/WBGH in Binghamton, NY, where she covered the AHL Senators’ Calder Cup Championship.

She graduated with a Broadcast Journalism degree from the University of Southern California (Fight On!) and she still enjoys watching her Trojans whenever possible.  Same can be said for all pro teams Boston, since growing up in New Hampshire.  You can take a girl out of New England but you can’t take the New England out of a girl!

Free time is tough to come by, but traveling is always first on her list when it comes around!
