SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Saratoga Springs celebrates First Night.
The biggest New Year’s celebration in the Capital Region takes place in Saratoga Springs. The 2014 celebration will include art across the city’s downtown area and more than 70 musical acts will perform.
The preparations have been underway since spring.
“On New Year’s Eve, streets are crowded with people and every single place you go into there’s music and entertainment,” First Night coordinator Alex Jones said.
Organizers expect between 10,000 and 15,000 people to come to the Spa to ring in the New Year. People travel from as far as Canada for the annual event.
“We found Saratoga when we were looking for some place other than Lake Placid to go over the border,” visitor Bruce White said.
To join the festivities, participants must purchase a button. Buttons cost $15 and can be found at any Stewart’s or Price Chopper or at the Arts Center.
First Night ends at midnight with a fireworks display.
