Albany parks to be tobacco free New Year’s Day

ALBANY, N.Y. – Starting on January 1, all parks in the City of Albany will be tobacco free.

The law passed in August and it takes effect New Year’s Day for all parks in the Capital City, which will now be curb to curb tobacco free.

Those behind the bill say its to promote healthy community living, while reducing people’s exposure to second hand smoke.

Each year, more than 25,000 people in New York State alone die from tobacco use.
