Police: Mother uses son’s identity to withdraw $27,000 from his accounts

GREENVILLE, N.Y. — A Greenville woman is accused of stealing money from her son, a U.S. army soldier, while he was deployed to Afghanistan.

According to police, 46-year-old Pearl Smith used her son’s identity to withdraw money from his personal bank account.

Investigators say Smith took over $27,000 from her son while he was deployed.

She was arraigned in the town of Greenville Court on charges of grand larceny and aggravated identity theft.
