ALBANY, N.Y. — When the state brought Former Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno to trial, he racked up quite a lot of legal fees — about $2 million.
And now, that money is being paid back to him courtesy of New York tax payers.
According to Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, the state has no choice but to reimburse Bruno.
He says there’s a state law that allows officials accused of wrong doing on the job to bill Albany for certain attorney fees.
In Bruno’s case, he was acquitted of fraud earlier this year following two trials and an appeal.
