Albany Co. Sheriff stunned when inmates apologize

ALBANY, N.Y. — They might be on the naughty list, but some Albany County inmates are apparently trying to make up for that.

According to Sheriff Craig Apple, when he stopped by the veterans wing at the correctional facility on Wednesday, 25 inmates stood up and apologized to him and the rest of the county, for their actions that landed them in the jail.

The sheriff says he was stunned.

He went on to thank “Soldier On,” a nonprofit organization committed to ending veteran homelessness that has partnered with the jail to serve incarcerated vets.
