ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany men’s basketball team defeated Fairfield on their home court at SEFCU arena.
The last time the UAlbany men’s basketball team played a game at home, the Great Danes lost by 17 points. It was the second loss in what would turn into a four-game skid. But since then, the team has shifted its momentum and won the last two games.
On Monday, they defeated Fairfield 77-66 with Evan Singletary the leading scorer with 21 points.
“I’m just feeling it, basically,” he said. “I was just feeling it. When it came off my hands, it just felt like it was going in every time I put it up. That’s basically what it was.”
“He’s massive,” Sam Rowley said. “He’s able to make big shots when we need them, and he can score in a lot of different ways, so he puts a lot of pressure on the defense. And then he’s just a good leader. He’s a great point guard. He runs the offense well, and he’s just a talented guy. And when he’s playing well, we’re a much better team.”
There were only five UAlbany turnovers Monday. The Great Danes have a few days off before practicing on December 26.
Their next opponent is Niagara – the final non-conference game before starting the America East Slate.
