New York’s medical marijuana program to start in 2016

ALBANY, N.Y. – Proposed regulations for the medical marijuana program in New York is expected to start in 2016.

The program authorizes patients with one of 10 diseases to be able to obtain non-smokeable versions of the drug.

The state is looking to license five businesses or non-profits in New York to grow and distribute the drug.

The proposed regulations will be subject to 45 days of public comments and possible amendments.
