TROY, N.Y. – The man accused of fatally stabbing a man in Troy in March appeared in court on Friday.
Xavier Parker faced a judge for a hearing to determine if he’s mentally competent to stand trial. The 18-year-old is accused of stabbing 32-year-old Donald Gooding in his Third Street apartment.
Parker and the victim were acquaintances, but the Rensselaer County District Attorney’s Office would not comment if Parker had any criminal history.
Parker faces manslaughter charges and a weapons charge. He remains in Rensselaer County Jail.
