Police respond to welfare check, find heroin

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Police say a man has been arrested on drug charges after a welfare check.

State police say they were dispatched to the CVS parking lot in Red Hook to check on an unresponsive male. When officials arrived, they found 45-year-old Hector Martinez of Poughkeepsie sleeping in his vehicle.

After investigation, troopers say Martinez was found to have over 110 envelopes of heroin in his possession.

Martinez was arraigned before the Village of Red Hook Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.
