Bus carrying high school students involved in accident

CRARYVILLE, N.Y. – A Michael Johnston’s bus transporting three local students was involved in an accident on Wednesday.

The Taconic Hills Central School District has confirmed that the accident happened around 8:45 a.m. as the bus was transporting three high school students to a regional transportation hub in Ghent. The students were then supposed to be bused to Tech Valley High School with other students.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office says that the school bus operated by 32 year old Nicole Jennings was traveling northbound on County Route 11 and due to icy road conditions, traveled across the roadway and struck the guardrail.

The vehicle then overturned coming to rest on its side.

Greenport Rescue Squad transported the driver to Albany Medical Center with minor injuries. Two students on the bus were transported Columbia Memorial Hospital with minor injuries the third was uninjured and released to a parent.
