Here’s your Latest forecast from News10 Meteorologist Steve Teeling
Less Snow For Today….
Let’s cut right to the chase on why we are expecting lower snow totals today. There are 2 reasons…The Nor-easter ended up being about 75-100 miles further east than expected and very dry Arctic air is across the region which means a lot of the snow so far has evaporated before reaching the ground. With that being said, we are still going to see periods of light snow through-out the day….especially east of the Hudson River…and just not as much as expected. The snow that does fall will be very light and powdery and with winds gusting at times above 25 mph we will see areas of blowing and drifting snow, especially over the higher terrain.
And yes, a true Blizzard for Eastern New England with winds gusting 50-70 mph. The wind along with the heavy snow means white-out conditions, especially in open areas and the higher elevations of New England.
