State Police investigate roll over that injured one man

TAGHKANIC, N.Y. – State Police are investigating a roll over accident that happened in Columbia County.

On Tuesday around 2:33 p.m., State Police from the Livingston barracks were dispatched to a roll over personal-injury auto accident that occurred on County Route 27 in the area of Crow Hill Road.

When first responders arrived at the crash scene, they found a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee overturned, resting on its roof.  The driver, 76-year old Charles Teiger was inside of the vehicle and inaccessible due to live power lines laying alongside of the Jeep.

Prior to responding, a trooper observed NYSEG workers a short distance away from the accident scene. He returned to the NYSEG crew’s location and advised them of the emergency situation just a short distance away. NYSEG arrived at the crash site and neutralized the power lines so medical assistance could be provided to Teiger.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Teiger was eastbound on Route 27 when he lost control of his vehicle, exited the roadway on the south shoulder, and struck a utility pole.

Teiger was flown to Albany Medical Center where he is listed in stable condition.

Anyone with that witnessed the crash or additional information regarding this crash is asked to call New York State Police in Livingston by calling 845-677-7300.
