Man arraigned for allegedly starting Remsen Street fire in Cohoes

COHOES, N.Y. – A man has been arraigned on two felony charges stemming from an arson case in Cohoes.

Edward Glass, 31, was arraigned Friday morning for one count of arson in the second degree, a violent felony, and one count of reckless endangerment in the first degree, a felony.

A Grand Jury returned an indictment alleging that on October 6, at approximately 2 a.m. at 200-204 Remsen St. Glass did intentionally damage the building by means of starting a fire on a chair that was sitting in the vestibule of the building.  

The fire spread from the chair into the building, causing damage to the entire building, including the six apartments inside.
The blaze temporarily displaced 12 residents who lived on the second floor.
There were no injuries as a result of the fire.

Glass pleaded not guilty to the charges and was remanded to Albany County Correctional Facility.
