Man who tried to return stolen car for $20 sentenced

ALBANY, N.Y.—An Albany man was sentenced in Albany County Court Thursday morning.

David Moore, 55, pleaded guilty to one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the fourth degree.

On June 3, a 2007 PT Cruiser that was parked on Central Avenue was stolen with the victim’s cellphone inside. The following day, repeated calls were placed to the phone and Moore answered stating he would return the car for $20.

After agreeing on a pre-arranged location, the Albany Police were able to respond to the scene to find the car and keys in Moore’s possession.

Moore was sentenced to 1 ½ to three years in State Prison.
