TROY, N.Y. — Police say they are making changes within the department following another shooting this week, as well as a suspected arson just yesterday morning.
This week, residents and Troy City council members asked for more officers to be visible on the streets.
Troy Police Chief John Tedesco says he will be adding more officers to shifts and freeing up others that would have been doing training activities. The Chief also says he is re-deploying a drug unit into North Central Troy.
“We’re approximating additional 20 bodies out into the street by making these moves,” said Tedesco.
Those changes include 4 officers to the day shift and 2 extra at night.
The chief says he is hoping this will help bring some peace to the city’s streets.
