ALBANY, N.Y. — Bacon lovers are going big.
Today is International Bacon Day.
According to Republicofbacon.com, it was first celebrated in 2000 in Bedford, Massachusetts.
Now, the celebration falls on the Saturday before Labor Day every year.
Market research from the NPD Group found Americans ate 1.1 billion bacon servings in 2013. That’s about 6 percent more than the previous year.
