Police investigate another shooting in Troy

TROY, N.Y. – The Troy Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place Thursday night.

Police said the shooting took place in the area of Sixth Avenue and Glen Avenue in Troy shortly before 8 p.m.

Police said a 19-year-old male suspect shot another male, and then the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle. The suspect crashed the vehicle in the Corliss Park Apartments and ran into the woods, according to police.

The suspect as been charged with assault in the first degree and criminal possession of a weapon. He is to be arraigned in city court on Friday morning. 

Police received reports from neighbors saying they heard voices coming from the woods. Authorities searched the woods, and Troy police called in a New York State Police helicopter to search the woods from an aerial view. State Police K-9 units also searched the woods while officers had their guns drawn.

Police said the victim’s injuries do not appear to be serious.
