GUILDERLAND, N.Y. – A man has been arrested and accused of selling fake concert tickets for a show in Saratoga Springs.
According to the Albany County Sheriff’s Office, Cy Ismael Rivera, 23, was arrested at the entrance of Dick’s Sporting Goods Store inside Crossgates Mall. The New York City resident is accused of selling counterfeit Jason Aldean Concert Tickets.
Sheriff’s Investigators conducted an undercover operation into the fake tickets being sold at local malls. Police say the investigators made contact with Rivera through Craigslist and attempted to purchase the Jason Aldean tickets for the Friday night concert at SPAC.
Police say they ordered six tickets from the suspect. Rivera then told the officers to meet him at Crossgates Mall. According to authorities, Rivera did sell the six counterfeit concert tickets to the undercover investigator. He was taken into custody after the sale without incident.
The tickets were confirmed to be counterfeit and Rivera was transported to the Sheriff’s Public Safety Building for processing.
Rivera was charged with six counts of Criminal Possession of Forged Instrument in the third degree, a misdemeanor, Trademark counterfeiting in the third degree, a misdemeanor, Attempted Petit Larceny, a misdemeanor, Scheme to defraud in the first degree, a felony.
Rivera was arraigned Friday morning in the Town of Guilderland Court. He is being held at the Albany County Correctional Facility without bail.
Sheriff’s investigators believe that Rivera is part of a large scale organization which operates out of New York City.
