Fonda-Fultonville grandstand closed due to safety concerns

FONDA, N.Y. — The Fonda-Fultonville grandstand on the FFCSD athletic field has been closed due to safety concerns, and temporary bleachers will be used instead.

The grandstand, originally constructed in 1973, is not up to building code. The district’s insurance carrier, architect, and attorney have advised that it is unsafe to occupy.

The grandstand press box and seating was refurbished in 2002, but a recent inspection revealed continued deterioration. Temporary bleachers will be used to accommodate spectators at athletic events until a permanent solution can be implemented.
