CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. – Shenendehowa High School prepares for the upcoming season with Community Football Day.
The event served as a fundraiser for the former Plainsmen captain Christopher Stewart who was killed in a crash on the Northway two years ago. The annual green and white scrimmage, named in honor of Stewart, provided a first look at the 2014 Plainsmen who return 12 starters from last year’s team that went 6-3.
Shen is traditionally a power house in Class AA, but underachieved last season according to head coach Brian Clawson who expects a turnaround this year.
“They met right after the season by themselves and made a commitment to everyone amongst themselves to do whatever they could in their power to become better as football players, as people in the offseason to become bigger, faster, stronger, and to put that to work for this upcoming year,” he said.
