Project in Congress Park to mark 100 years of Saratoga Springs

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.  – For summer 2015, Saratoga Springs will mark 100 years as a city and one of the ways it hopes to celebrate the big anniversary involves giving a city landmark a face lift.

Philanthropists MaryLou Whitney and John Hendrickson are putting up their own money to create a permanent salute to the culture of Saratoga where Union Avenue and Circular Street meet at Congress Park. To mark 100 years as a city, the section will be named “Centennial Park”.

The project, hoped to be completed before next summer, would include a statue of Native Dancer, a legendary thoroughbred that found success at the Spa.
