Police: Teen found in possession of stolen handgun, counterfeit money

ALBANY, N.Y. – An underage teenager from Latham has been arrested for handgun possession following an incident that occurred on Lark Street . 

On Tuesday around 11:45 p.m., an Albany Police Officer was on routine patrol when he approached a male in the area of Lark Street and Orange Street.


The teen was allegedly found to be in possession of a loaded .380 caliber handgun.

The recovered handgun was reported stolen to the City of Atlanta, Georgia Police Department in May 2014.

Police say the teen was also found to be in possession of $870 in counterfeit U.S. currency.

He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon second , criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth, and criminal possession of a forged instrument in the first. He was arraigned in the Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
