SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Today marks the 145th running of the Travers Stakes Race at the Saratoga Race Course.
Visitors poured through the gates at 7a.m. and workers say they added fifty picnic tables to the backyard to seat the larger crowd expected.
In all, workers say there are about 200 more tables compared to last year.
NYRA President and CEO, Chris Kay says he anticipates a crowd of between 45,000 and 50,000 people.
Kay also says there is more security, and a lot of money has been spent to enhance the TV’s, sound systems, and dining areas to make the event more enjoyable for everyone.
Crews say they have been working hard this week to get the track ready for the horses, especially after all of the rain this past week.
