COLONIE, N.Y. – Colonie Police say they have a suspect in custody in regards to the stabbing that happened in the town earlier this week.
Police have are currently questioning James Sayers, 43, who is a level three sex offender. He was taken into custody on a parole violation Wednesday. According to authorities, Sayers is being questioned in connection to the stabbing which left a woman with serious injuries.
However, Sayers has not been charged with any crime, he is only a person of interest.
The 50-year-old woman was found in the wooded area adjacent to Watervliet Shaker Road just west of Wall Street. She was taken to Albany Medical Center where she is listed in stable condition, and her injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
Authorities do believe the attack was random but they say the public is not in danger.
