Police looking for missing Chatham man

CHATHAM, N.Y. – The New York State Police is investigating the report of a missing Chatham man.

Police said 33-year-old Benjamin Kaufmann was reported missing by his parents. According to police, his parents said he left his residence for a walk around 2:30 p.m. on August 6 and did not return.

State Police, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Department and NYS DEC Forest Rangers have been conducting a search of the area off of State 203 in the town utilizing aviation, K-9, all-terrain vehicles and foot patrols.

Kaufmann is described as a white male with brown hair and brown eyes. He is six foot two inches tall and weighs approximately 210 pounds.

Police said he was last seen wearing dark colored shorts and no shirt. Anyone with information is asked to call the state police at 518-851-3111.
