?SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — For the first time at the spa, 16 legendary riders will meet up for a reunion of sorts as part of the inaugural Jockey Legends Day.
Fan favorites Angel Cordero, Junior and Ramon Dominguez will make their returns to Saratoga for the day. Joining them will be 14 other names among the greatest in thoroughbred history — including Triple Crown winning jockeys, Ron Turcotte and Jean Cruguet.
Turcotte rode atop Secretariat, Cruguet piloted Seattle Slew.
Another honoree is Richard Migliore. NEWS10 ABC caught up with the man known as “The Mig”, to talk about having stars from the 1960’s until today, back at Saratoga.
“It gives the fans a chance to talk about the days when they watched them ride in their prime, and maybe even spark a little debate about who was the best at different periods of time,” he said.
All 16 jockeys will be honored at a red carpet ceremony on the track between the fifth and sixth races Saturday.
Beforehand, a handful of the jockeys will sign autographs from noon to one o-clock, in front of the jockey silks room.
