Four arrested on drug charges in Amsterdam

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. – The Amsterdam Police Department arrested four city residents on drugs charges

The Amsterdam Police Department, in conjunction with the NYSP CNET, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, executed two search warrants and four arrest warrants around 5:30 a.m. Thursday for suspects selling drugs in the city of Amsterdam.

The warrants came as a culmination of a six-month investigation. Police said there is one suspect, who has an active arrest warrant for drug sales, who remains at large.

The following defendants were arrested:

1. Elizabeth Willsey, 30, of Elizabeth Street was charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree. Police confiscated over five grams of cocaine, glassine envelopes of heroin and over $800 in cash durin the search warrant.

2. Shayzon Taylor, 30, of Division Street was charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree.

3. Carol Drescher, 31, of Division Street was charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. Police said Drescher was in possession of over ten grams of cocaine and a small amount of marijuana during the service of the arrest warrant.

4. Trevon Williams, 21, of Northampton Road was charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree.

All defendants were arraigned in Amsterdam City Court. Additional arrests are possible, and the investigation is continuing.
