ALBANY, N.Y. – An Albany woman, who used a billboard to ask for a kidney, says her idea is working.
Myrna Bernstein bought a billboard on Central Avenue in Colonie and bought ads on some CDTA buses after being on a donor list for several years. She says she suffers from a hereditary kidney disease that both her mother and uncle died from.
Bernstein’s own kidney functions has declined, and she’s hoping to get a new kidney before she has to go on dialysis.
She confirmed with NEWS10 ABC that three people have come forward and are being tested as a possible match.
The donor list has her waiting up to five years, that’s when she decided to put up the signs.
