MALTA, N.Y. – The Malta man accused of strangling his wife and living with her body for two days is due in court for arraignment on Friday.
Charles Wilkinson, 68, is facing a felony second degree murder charge in the death of his wife Kathleen, according to the Saratoga County District Attorney’s Office.
At a previous hearing, an investigator stated that Wilkinson admitted to strangling his wife and that they were going through a mortgage foreclosure. The husband stated that the foreclosure created a lot of tension between him and his wife.
Kathleen Wilkinson, who was 65-years-old, was found in the couple’s home on Meadow Rue Drive on June 2. The Wilkinson’s son had called police for a welfare check.
Wilkinson allegedly killed his wife during a physical domestic dispute. Her cause of death was asphyxiation by strangulation. The man continued to live in the home while his wife was deceased in the bedroom for two days, according to authorities.
Wilkinson is a former Nassau County Police Officer. Since his retirement, he worked part-time, most recently doing security for Global Foundries. His wife was retired.
