ALBANY, N.Y. – The road to the LPGA ran through Albany as the 14th leg of the Symetra Tour tee’d off Friday at the Capital Hills Golf Course.
The 144 golfers in the field are competing for their share of the $100,000 purse with the winner of the weekend’s tournament taking home $15,000.
Each leg of the 20 tournament tour is important because the top ten finishers in earnings at the end will earn a spot on the LPGA Tour next year.
“The competition out here is phenomenal,” golfer Lauren Mielbrecht said. “Everyone is good, and so week in and week out you’re playing against the best and that does nothing but elevate you, and it’s a great platform for us to hopefully get to that next level.”
The SEFCU Championship will end Sunday.
