GUILDERLAND, N.Y. – A local family is battling Huntington’s disease, and the community has set up fundraisers to help the family during their fight.
The Rodino family has been fighting Huntington’s disease which has no cure. The disease is a neurodegenerative genetic disorder that affects muscle coordination.
The disease took the life of their 8-year-old daughter Rachel in 2010. Rick, the father of the family, is in the later stages of the disease and requires 24-hour care from his wife.
Their adult son and daughter have also been diagnosed.
The community held fundraisers Thursday night at two Guilderland restaurants with the objective to raise enough money so the Rondino’s can keep their home during this time.
Anyone who wants to donate to the Rodino family can do so through a fundraising website.
