Glens Falls taking steps to ease financial stress

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. — The city of Glens Falls is in financial stress, but a recent review by the state shows the city is moving in the right direction.

According to State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, the city’s revenue has not kept pace with expenditures.

He says debt costs and the subsidization of the civic center are partly to blame. But he noted Glens Falls leaders are taking steps to turn things around, including consolidating some city functions and combining services with Warren County.
