Police investigating fatal plane crash in Essex Co.

NORTH ELBA, N.Y. – State police say they are investigating a fatal plane crash in Essex County.


State police say a single engine plane crashed and burst into flames on Saturday around 10:40 a.m off of River Road.

Authorities say three people were on board the aircraft and have been pronounced dead. Their identities and the cause of the crash are still under investigation.

The FAA and NTSB have been notified and are assisting in the investigation.

Lake Placid Police and Fire Departments, as well as Saranac Lake Fire Department and New York State Police Aviation are assisted at the scene.
