Great Escape opens Wild Bill museum

LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. – The Great Escape opened the Marshal Wild Windy Bill McKay Museum in Ghost Town Thursday.

The opening was part of the theme park’s 60th anniversary celebration.

McKay delighted and entertained tens of thousands of children with his interactive cowboy show in Ghost Town for five decades.

“This is a perfect partnership to create a museum to display those things they gave us to showcase to our guests the importance of his history here,” Great Escape Communications Manager Rebecca Close said.

“The museum is here because he cared so much,” McKay’s daughter Denise Weideman said. “He was just a good man.”

McKay retired from the Great Escape in 2007. He passed away in 2011 at the age of 90.
