ALBANY, N.Y. – The Albany city mayor threw out the first pitch at the Albany Dutchmen game Friday.
Mayor Kathy Sheehan threw out the first pitch at the Dutchmen vs. the Amsterdam Mohawks game. It was a good throw reaching the batter’s box, though it wasn’t a strike out.
Sheehan said all that matters is she didn’t embarrass herself.
“My goal is to get it across the plate. The season starts early for a mayor,” she said. “You throw out all the pitches for the little league openings. It’s not quite the same distance. It’s pretty easy to get it across the plate, but you know that mound backs up the higher up you go, so it is a lot of pressure, but it’s a lot of fun.”
The Mohawks won the game 2-1.
