TROY, N.Y.—The Rensselaer County Honor-A-Deceased Veteran Committee and County officials recognized the late Louis Schneider on Monday, June 9.
Schneider enlisted in the army on January 25, 143, and spent nearly a year and a half overseas combat with the 751st Field Artillery Battalion.
Schneider was authorized to receive the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, the Army good Conduct Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, and, the American Campaign Medal upon his December 30, 1945 discharge at the separation center at Ft. Dix, New Jersey.
We are truly fortunate for the service of Louis Schneider and so many others who have served and still serve in our nation’s military,” said Rensselaer County Executive Kathleen M. Jimino.
“Louis received commendations and awards for his service with the U.S. Army during World War II. We owe Louis Schneider and his family our gratitude and appreciation for their service and sacrifice to our nation,” said Legislator Thomas Walsh Sr., chair of the Legislature’s Veterans Committee.
